Happy 5th Birthday, Carli Brooke!

Yesterday, our little girl turned a big 5! Is it even possible?

Since it's an important birthday, we had originally planned on having a huge birthday bash with all of her friends from school and church, but with my delivery date moved up three weeks, one week after her birthday, I certainly didn't feel like I could pull off a bash. Carli wanted to go back to Chuck E. Cheese anyway, so she didn't know the difference between me planning and executing a party or Chuck E! :) Maybe next year. So we just had a few of her friends and we had fun! I think I like that place just as much as she does! Olivia stays highly entertained, too. What fun.
Below: A little sunny. Ready to party.
Oliva enjoying a carousel.

No fear of Chuck E this year.

Ahhhh....
Friends!
I saved one present for this party (I gave her her other ones at Glen's mom's on the 4th). This is what she'd asked for...a Cabbage Patch Boy.
Wish you could see Livy's face a little better. She had residual effects of bug bites on her forehead and eyes. On Sunday her eye was completely swelled closed. Guess she takes after her Granddad!
Carli used money from Grandma Cessna to buy a Polly Pocket. Glen's mom had gotten her one and she was thrilled. Then a friend got her the Princess Belle set, and the outfits work for both Belle and Polly Pocket. This morning she wanted me to take her picture with them this morning.

Only 5 full days left!

Daniel Ray Satterfield

Look what I have!!! Pictures of my very own nephew! It's still a bit surreal that we actually have a boy in this little corner of my family. Here's what Jordan had in the picture email yesterday:

In case you forgot--Daniel Ray Satterfield
Born June 30, 2008 at 4:58 pm
8 lbs 13 oz
20 and 3/4 inches long
And just plain cute

This is Brianna holding Daniel after Jordan brought her to the hospital after midnight. I think she looks rather pleased to be a big sister. I talked to her today, and she said, "I have a little a new little brother, and he's so cute!"

Picture post

I only have time to give brief captions for these pics rather than full explanations, but hope you enjoy!

Below: We Cat-sat for my in-laws two times over the last month or so. This is Jingle, an absolutely beautiful Siamese cat that absolutely love the kids. If it weren't for litter boxes, I'd keep him. I'm surprised the cat still has a voicebox. Olivia dragged him around by his neck quite a bit. Excuse the lack of clothes on Olivia. We were supposed to be getting dressed, but Jingle was getting more attention than Mommy was!

Carli slept on our floor when she was sick. She had to have both CP dolls with her. Finally starting to play with dolls more, as opposed to, say, rocks and sticks.

A couple of Sundays ago, during hospitality, right before she spilled hot chocolate all over herself.

Alyssa and Lisa getting ready for my baby shower.

One of the diaper cakes, this one from Julie in my SS class.

Some of the kids at the shower. Some of the gifts!
Diaper cake--artfully designed by Aunt Pam, Melanie and Emily. Check out the adorable shoes on top!!!

Bookends from Alyssa, complete with nameplates for each of the girls.
On the way to the musical, last night!
Yes, it was windy!
Can you get any cuter than this???
Or this?

Up front for the fourth time last weekend. Patriotic musical 2008.

Hi, Daddy!
Moses and Carli
Song: The Perfect 10. I'm going to try to get her to do it again so you can hear the whole thing. It's so cute. I'm not so sure the kids choir director had this much "swinging" in mind. Everybody got a huge kick out of Carli's overly dramatic motions.

My own nephew!

Jordan and Kayla welcomed baby Daniel Ray yesterday at 4:48 CST. He's named for two grandfathers and his Daddy! Isn't that sweet? He was 8 lbs 13 oz. I talked to Jordan at 4:10 CST and Kayla had just had her epidural and was feeling very happy. They settled in for a wait to go from 5 to 10, but the baby had other plans! Wish I could see him. I'll post pics when they send them.

Happy Father's Day!

Since I haven't been able to connect with my Daddy yet (he's at conference, so he's a little busy!), I thought I'd at least post something to let him know that I was thinking of him today!

Daddy, I'm so glad that I was able to visit you in person for a bit this week! Thanks for spoiling me rotten (TOM's PIZZA and ice cream all in the same night!). You're the bestest daddy ever (not just for spoiling me!), and I'm thankful that God chose you to be mine. Hugs! BTW, I heard "Butterfly Kisses" on the radio today! :)

Our Father's Day here has been a little rocky. I was sick yesterday and got no Father's Day shopping done for my hubby. But he doesn't like cards much and had decided that he just wanted to buy some stuff off of Amazon. Fine by me, but it seemed a little anti-climatic. Then in the night, Carli puked everywhere, and Glen started feeling pretty yucky too. He puked around 7, so no church for either him or Carli today. Glen's parents came over for dinner and Dad A had a migraine. So the fathers in my home today didn't have a very good day.

Well, I'm showing a low-battery warning, so I'd better sign off before I lose this. That's easier than getting up and getting a cord at this point! :) I'm getting lazy at this stage!

Grandma Satterfield

Some of you already know that my Grandma Satterfield passed away on Saturday. Ever since she fell and broke her hip earlier this year, she's been going downhill fast. Somehow in all the busyness of the funeral, etc, I had forgotten to take time to really think about what she must be feeling right now, to see Jesus face to face and to reunite with Grandpa after 16 years. When I really stop to realize that she's truly walking on those streets of gold that are way more than just a nice little cliche, it kind of puts everything else into perspective.
Before, I forget, thanks, Mark, for the picture. I lifted it from your blog. For anyone who knows my cousin Mark Hoch and would like to see his blog, go to www.vahochs.blogspot.com.
Ever since we knew that Grandma may not last the year out, we planned to used Glen's bereavement time go home to PA, but when it actually happened, Glen discovered that he does not get
off for the grandparent of his spouse. And since he doesn't get new vacation time until July, it made it impossible for him to go. So I flew home Saturday evening and came back Wednesday morning. That was ever so much easier than driving, and though I missed them terribly, it was nice not to have to worry about little girls in a funeral home! I really enjoyed having Mom and Dad to myself for a bit. I was doubly glad I went home since all 13 of my Satterfield cousins came in for the funeral. I teased my parents that they just wanted me home to save face, since they would have been the only one without kids! :) Jordan obviously couldn't come clear home from South Dakota with his lovely wife 8 months pregnant!
In other news:
--I got a $300 voucher for Northwest airlines for giving up my seat on the plane from Pittsburgh to Detroit. Had to wait around the airport for a while, but it went very fast, and then I had a direct flight to Indy rather than through Detroit.
--Glen managed well with the girls with the help of all our friends. Alyssa and Kirsten combed hair on Sunday, and Carmen and Lisa kept the girls overnight on Monday and Tuesday nights respectively. Glen had late nights scheduled for both. The only hitch was that Olivia threw up in the night for no apparent reason. Carmen wasn't going to tell us, but one of the kids did! :)
--I am officially done with school now until after the baby comes. I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to start back in, but hopefully before too many months go by.
--Carli asked me today when she would get baptized.
--Olivia just poked her fingers into the chocolate pie I made for my chocolate loving friend. Sorry, Alyssa, I guess it'll have to be another day.
--Alyssa is throwing a baby shower for me! She's so sweet. And what really "warmed my heart" is that her mom is coming from Columbus, OH, to help her with it, and because she wanted to for me. I've only met here a couple of times, but she's so sweet! Of course, I know that probably any excuse to spend time with her daughter will do.
Well, I can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'm sure that I'm leaving something out.
Hugs to you all,
Pam

Ooops!

I just took an hour to update my blog, and what do you know, I posted it in Glen's rather than mine! And it won't let me copy and paste, and I'm NOT taking the time to retype and upload the pics and video all over again!!! :) Soooooooooo...Go to www.glenasbury.blogspot.com to read my post!
